Open Stage Community Workshops are open to all members of the community, regardless of singing ability. Highly skilled teams from OperaQ work with participants to develop voice, movement and drama skills. These residencies culminate in exciting performance opportunities where participants perform alongside OperaQ artists. Cloud Song is a spectacular new concept inspired by the enchanted spaces of Cloudland, including a ten-metre waterfall and over 5,000 plants where live performance collides with digital music, exceptional food and boutique beverages.

Open Stage is back in 2015 to inspire creativity and confidence in classrooms across Queensland.

Students in metropolitan and regional schools work with our highly skilled artists each day for a week-long residency to discover their creative potential through voice, movement and drama classes specially tailored to their abilities.

At the end of the week students and the workshop team take to the stage together to perform for their peers, family and local community.

The Adventures of Figaro is a high-energy, colourful riot of sunny-Spanish madness in which performers sing, dance, act and play their way through a 90 minute version of Rossini’s much-loved opera, The Barber of Seville.

This madcap tale follows a lively Figaro as he attempts to help Count Almaviva (his former boss) rescue Rosina (the Count’s crush) from the romantic sights of the doddery Doctor Bartolo. OperaQ’s Lindy Hume will direct her adventurous and dynamic new adaptation of Rossini’s much loved opera, accompanied by an effervescent new musical arrangement by Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Craig Allister Young.

The Adventures of Figaro is a fast-paced, vibrant work performed in English is perfect for opera lovers and new comers alike.
